As I mentioned a few posts ago, I am currently working on a personal project so I haven't had as much time as usual to do doodles, experiment, and just play in my studio. I did decide to play around last night while I was watching a movie and these are what I came up with. I drew the horse trading card as a surprise for someone and the chick drawing was done in my sketchbook. It must be all the peeps at the grocery store! (I also love all the promise of spring.)

{ACEO Cards, 2011}
I've been loving my Faber-Castell Pitt Brush pens. I use them in my sketchbook a lot but I thought they would be fun with some Artist's Trading Cards. I'll be adding these to my Etsy shop whenever I get the time to list them. In the meantime, let me know if you are interested in one of them. They are $3.00 each and you can e-mail me at candartist@aol.com telling me which one(s) you want and to arrange payment.

Special Illustration Friday - Ripple
SOLD
This card is available for a $10 donation.
This week's theme for Illustration Friday is "Ripple". Kelly Light suggested the theme and participants are donating art cards (a 2.5"x3.5" work of art) that will be sold for $10 to help aid the clean up of the Gulf Oil Spill. This is an excerpt from the Ripple Sketch Blog:"Each sketchcard on this blog is $10.00. The $10.00 is a donation to help the animal victims of the Deep Water Horizon Gulf Oil Spill. Every penny is donated. The two Non-Profits that are benefitting are The Institute for Marine Mammal Studies and The International Bird Rescue Research Center. You can purchase a card if you donate directly to one of the non-profits and email me the confirmation and your address to ripplesketches@verizon.net. The artist will mail you the signed card."
The card I created is inspired by some of the reefs that can be seen in the Gulf of Mexico. I am not lucky enough to live near the ocean. (I hope to someday) However, I have been to several ocean beaches and a few years ago snorkeled in the Gulf of Mexico. It is sad to think that future generations may not be able to enjoy the beauty of these delicate ecosystems. Make sure you go over to the Ripple Sketches Blog and look at all the entries and consider making a small donation!

New ATC's

I did 2 new ATC's tonight. I just sort of started with a shape and went from there. The colors are more subtle in real life, but for some reason my scanner is pretty harsh with pastel tones.
The top is a bluebird and the bottom is a concentrated juggler.
OH! and Guess what! Tomorrow I will post my Illustration Friday "Save" painting that I finally finished today. It was nice to do a full out illustration this week for IF, I think it turned out pretty cute. Make sure you check back to see that!

My first ATC

I made my first Artist Trading Card today. I used a stamp that I had created from an illustration I had done. (the deer) And I used acrylic, gel medium, paper scraps, ribbon, thread and some wallpaper. It's pretty much mixed media at that point I guess. But I think it's cute. I figured it would be good to do at least one per week as a gift to myself and for myself. (the time, not the card) I'll be putting in on Monday Artday tonight!
