The Meet-up

{Watercolor, 2014}

This is a personal piece I just finished. I wanted to illustrate a town for my portfolio but then I couldn't help myself from adding a little bit of a story. One of these days I need to do a massive sketchbook post too. I have tons and tons of sketches that I will share soon. I think sketchbooks are the best thing about being an illustrator.

Cookies Between Friends

{Digital Mixed Media, 2013}
It has been awhile since I last posted! It isn't because I haven't been working on anything. In fact, it's very much the opposite. I've been pretty swamped with work and I have several things I'd like to share on my blog. I thought I would start with this little personal illustration I created during some down time a few months back. I liked the way it turned out and I have some other little mice I would like to finish once I have some free time. I'm currently working on my 4th picture book, which I am very excited about! Juggling motherhood, an illustration career and general life stuff (and summer is always extra busy too!) has proven to be difficult but rewarding. I really enjoy blogging too, so I hope to try and fit a bit more in.

Friendship Bracelets

{Friendship Bracelets, 2011}

{Friendship Bracelets, 2011}
I found a really inexpensive and fun tutorial for a breezy summer craft! One of my favorite blogs to read, Fieldguided shared a link to a friendship bracelet DIY project on the Honestly... WTF blog. Making these bracelets made me think of my trips to summer camp and swimming in the lake! Plus, colorful friendship bracelets are all the rage right now! These are the first few I made, but I have enough embroidery floss to do several more for friends!

A Sweet Baby Commission

{Oil on Canvases, 2010}
{Oil on Canvases, 2010}
{Olivia with her daddy, Mao, 2009}
These are a few progress shots of a commission I am doing for a friend's baby room. I'll post them again as soon as they are completely done. I plan to stick with a mostly blue and brown palette, which is the color of her room. Olivia, is around 8 months old and is a real cutie! My husband and I really value the time we get to spend with Olivia and her parents (Anne and Mao). They are a sweet family and really fun to be around.
