Illustration Friday - Confined

{Graphite, 2010}
Fireflies confined in a jar, as their flying buddies come to see what has happened! Personally, I have never caught a firefly in a jar, but the idea always seemed romantic! (Probably not if you are the firefly!) We live across the street from a park though. In the summer they fly around the trees and it is wonderful to walk amongst them as they buzz around your head. Just dreaming of summer I suppose...

Cute wee story and I like the perspective that one is leading us to the others. Cool pencil mark making too! :D

Trying to find energy to paint. blah!

I love your technique!

I used to try and see how many fireflies I could fit in my closed hand before they started crawling out. :)

Lovely little illo. Fireflies have largely dissappeared the last few years, probably due to a virus. I really hope they make a comeback. The world would not be the same without them.

I have never actually seen a firefly...so of course I'm quite fascinated by them. I like this a lot!
