Illustration Friday - Pale

{Watercolor Moleskine, 2009}
This is my first try at using a Moleskine. I bought the watercolor one, because I tend to like a pretty large sketchbook, and I figured if I was going to spend that kind of money on a sketchbook, I wanted to have some watercolor paper in it. So I have to say, I kind of get the "rage", the size is pretty cool, and the paper is supreme.
Anyways, this is supposed to represent the phrase, "by the pale moonlight"... I had a lot of fun just going for it without any planning or preliminary sketches. I flew by the seat of my pants.

Candace!! This is just beautiful, I love the soft edges and the gorgeous colors and the loose watercolor-ness (I'm sure that's a word). Lovely work!!

I LOVE the onesie pj's!! The tiny feet are adorable and you've completely captured it!!

Just FYI, careful if you ever get a regular moleskine and want to watercolor...it does not like it at all!! Although I got a tip the other day from an online buddy who suggested gesso-ing the back of the page and surprise surprise, it actually helped :) It will never be like using watercolor paper, but it wasn't bad :)

So this is what flying by the seat of your pants look like? lol! This is such a sweet and lovely illustration. I have mixed feelings about moleskine, I do love them for pen/ink, though!

You fly by the seat of your pants so well Candace... this is lovely and the colors are perfect.

I just got a moleskin too...I really like it. I don't always use it because I keep thinking I should keep it for the best sketches....

this is lovely. I keep going to buy a moleskine but the price seems silly. is the paper REALLY that good? I love the way you drew with no prelim drawings. It has turned out beautifully...
