Illustration Friday: Horizon aka. A Christmas Present!

This works for Illustration Friday's theme of Horizon, and with the holidays, I don't have time to do much extra illustration. We're going to be traveling from Iowa back to Michigan...where I wont have my scanner and art supplies! I'll be bringing a sketchbook though!

I did this little painting as a Christmas present for my second cousin Leah. In return, she promised to make me something for Christmas too...I'll post what she gives me in return later. She does really cool origami and cool stuff like that, so I'm really excited to see what she comes up with. Leah is 17 and loves cats and she's got this cute little emo vibe. That's how I came up with this little painting.
I used alkyd oils...cuz I'm an illustrator, and they dry fast! Also, I painted the edges, I'm going to add a sawtooth hook and she can just plop it on her wall. I think framing sometimes looks a little too formal for my illustrations. Plus, I love when paintings continue onto the sides.

Hope Leah doesn't see this 'til Christmas.....shhhh!
